Maple syrup has been described as one of the last wild harvested foods and a cultural icon of Canada. It is our joy and privilege to be the fifth generation of Shaws to bring the incredible taste of nature to our local community year-round. Come visit us at our sugar bush and pancake house in the late winter and early spring or let us provide a fully catered bbq buffet for your next social and/or corporate event in the summer and fall.
Terri-Lynn & Tom
During the summer and fall, Shaws Catering can help create a relaxed and personal atmosphere for your next corporate or social event with our fully catered bbq buffet. Let our professional staff take care of the food while you enjoy your guests. Add freshly grilled maple bbq chicken or maple butter tarts to the buffet to enhance the truly Canadian outdoor experience.
We also provide everything you need for a successful Do-It-Yourself Pig Roast including maple charcoal. Over 500 happy customers each season have made us Canada’s largest do-it-yourself pig roast operation.
On April 5, 2022, Shaws Maple Syrup received the 2022 Heritage Business Award from the Simcoe County Historical Association. The Heritage Business Award recognizes businesses that have influenced the development of Simcoe County through generations of entrepreneurial innovation and excellence. We were honoured to receive the award and celebrate our family’s long history as a maple syrup producer in Oro-Medonte.
“When we can locate a business that has been running nearly 120 years in the same family, five generations of them mind you, but in the same family, then it’s a wonderful tribute we can pay to this family and this business that has stayed viable for so long“. Donna Wise of the Simcoe County Historical Association.
Our family has been making maple syrup on this property every spring since 1904. Over the years, family members have discovered new innovative ways to collect sap and produce maple syrup and we have extended the business to include a Pancake House, a BBQ catering company and Canada’s largest do-it-yourself pig roasting operation. Terri-Lynn and Tom are proud to be the fifth generation of Shaws running our family farm and sugar bush.
“Being recognized as part of Simcoe County’s heritage is a great honour for the Shaw family,” said Tom Shaw. “We are committed to maintaining the standards set for us long ago. We enjoy sharing our family story and strive to create a memorable, enjoyable and quality experience for young and old alike.”

Five generations and almost 120 years later, James' great-grandson Tom Shaw continues to tap many of the same trees, providing a yearly harvest of delicious maple syrup for the surrounding community.
