As towns across Ontario experience record high daytime temperatures, we are busy at Shaws enjoying a record-breaking start to the 2023 maple season.
As reported on CTV Barrie, Not only is this the earliest we have ever seen the sap start running in our 119 year history, the sap is already running in large volumes. Tom says a lack of snow on the ground combined with higher than average daytime temperatures and cold nights is the reason behind the early run. We started collecting sap on February 14th and already we have collected over 6,000 litres of sap. A great start to Maple Season.
Come visit us at our sugar camp to see how we make maple syrup and enjoy the delicious taste of maple in our pancake house. We are open every day 8:00 am to 4:00 pm from February 18th to April 10th.
