Lakeside Wedding in Hawkestone

The portability of our catering business allows us to bring fresh, hot meals to customers in some exceptionally beautiful parts of Ontario, particularly Simcoe County. It allows families and friends to gather at meaningful locations and celebrate significant life events in a relaxed and intimate manner. It makes us happy each time we help make that happen. Recently, we were delighted to cater a lakeside wedding for our long-time friends near our home in Hawkestone and, wow, what a spectacular experience it was!

Our History in Hawkestone

Hawkestone has been home to our family for 191 years. In 1831, Henry Shaw, his wife Alice, and their four children arrived here from Lancashire England. They came just one year after Richard Hodges established a landing on Lake Simcoe for settlers from the British Isles. Without any infrastructure at all, life at that time would have been challenging.  Travel to their new land on the 11th line would have been on paths carved by the Huron-Wendat, who had long established encampments and trails through the area. After settling into life in Canada, Henry and Alice had seven (7) more children and they significantly expanded the amount of property the family owned in both Hawkestone and Orillia. In 1858, Henry’s oldest son Thomas acquired the farm on the 13th concession where Tom and Terri-Lynn live today. As the sixth generation of Shaws to live and farm on this property, Terri-Lynn and Tom have a very strong connection to the Hawkestone community.

A Wonderful Wedding

It was an absolute treat for our team to cater this amazing lakeside wedding. Every detail of the event had been thoughtfully considered to create an incredible experience for guests. As the sun slipped behind the large trees on the yard, friends and family gathered to witness the happy couple exchange vows at the edge of Lake Simcoe.  After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks at the custom bar and being photographed at the photo wall. A tent decorated with lights, crisp white linens, candles and long flower arrangements created an inviting reception for dinner.  The team from Shaws Catering team prepared a custom buffet of a slow roasted hip of beef and maple bbq chicken breasts combined with broccoli cheese salad, summer berry salad, carrots, baby potatoes and hot vegetables. Maple butter tarts for dessert rounded out a spectacular meal  Later in the evening, our friend Adam from Adovo Pizza Catering prepared fresh stone-fired pizzas to address any post-dancing cravings. The pizzas were fabulous!!

We are always honoured when friends ask us to be a part of their special celebrations. Our sincere thanks and best wishes to the happy couple.
