RMS Segwun

One of the great things about our catering business is we can deliver a fully catered BBQ meal just about anywhere. That means we get to serve delicious bbq meals in unique and often picturesque settings like onboard the Royal Mail Ship (RMS) Segwun.

According to Discover Muskoka, the Segwun has a unique history. “Built in 1887, Segwun is North America’s oldest operating steamship and an Ontario tourist icon. Royal Mail Ship Segwun accommodates up to 97 passengers.”

The Segwun was originally a side paddlewheel steamer named the Nipissing II that serviced cottages on Muskoka Lakes up to 1914. The ship was refurbished in 1924 and renamed Segwun which is Ojibwa for springtime. She made her made her maiden voyage on July 9, 1925.

The Segwun and her sister ship the Wenonah II, a modern interpretation of a traditional steamship, sail in the Muskoka Lakes out of the Gravenhurst harbour and both can be chartered for private events.
