For those of us who really enjoy being surrounded by nature, a wedding at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation is absolute perfection. The centre boasts a large maple forest, open meadows, ponds and wetlands on its 120 hectare property.
On this beautiful September Saturday, Tyler and Holly exchanged wedding vows before friends and family in the covered outdoor classroom surrounded by the mature maple forest. After the ceremony, a decked reception area in the nearby forest provided the perfect spot for guests to mingle over appetizers including smoked trout, sausage and veggies.
When the time was right, guests moved into the Great Room in the Jose building for the reception. Crisp white linens, contrasting navy table runners and traditional lanterns married nicely with the pine walls, two story stone fireplace and twinkle lights to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The team at Shaws Catering was delighted to feature freshly grilled salmon, maple chicken breasts and a selection of sides on our custom bbq buffet.
The Tiffin Conservation Centre is one of two wedding venues within the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority. The Authority works to conserve and enhance the environment in the Nottawasaga Valley Watershed. The watershed includes 13,000 acres of land across 18 different municipalities in Simcoe, Grey and Dufferin Counties. The watershed is bordered by the Niagara Escarpment to the west, the Oak Ridges Morraine to the south, the Oro Morraine to the east and the southern shores of Georgian Bay to the north. Proactive policies and sound environmental stewardship within the watershed can have a significant impact on the prevention of floods in the region as well as the prevention and/or reduction of the other impacts of climate change.
There are 11 different conservation areas within the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, including Tiffin. Each one provides a number of wonderful ways to enjoy nature like swimming, fishing, paddling, hiking, cross country skiing and many more. They also provide a wonderful place to hold a social event like a birthday party, wedding, corporate event or even a group camp out.
